Designer: Hans J. Wegner
Material: Wool upholstery with Oak frame
Maximum Dimensions: Width 212cm, Depth 85cm, Height 79cm, Seat Height 39cm and Seat Depth 53cm
Condition: Excellent with only small signs of age, mainly in the form of a small area of fraying to the Wool on the front of the right hand arm, as well a slight fading of the colour to the tops of the arms (see images). However the condition of the Wool is fantastic, considering that we believe it to be the original covering.
Description: A very elegant Danish 1960s GE-236 sofa, designed by iconic furniture designer Hans J. Wegner, and manufactured by Getama. The sofa is upholstered in a striking pin striped Green Wool fabric, the pin stripe containing Black and Yellow wool. All six of the removable cushions are sprung internally for added comfort, as well as sitting on rows of ‘E’ springs in the base of the frame below. The sofa is supported by a naturally finished Oak frame, presenting excellent craftsmanship, this being systematic of all Hans Wegner seating. The back of the piece features an open slatted frame, with protruding supports, making not just the front of the sofa a feature. The original Getama authentication stamp can be found to the underside of the base also. Purchased in Denmark, this design classic is an original piece of Mid Century furniture.
